I finished Kitty's kimono this week: robe, obi (sash) and tabi shoes. She looks awesome! The whole outfit is for her Seminar presentation at the end of May. Her topic is Japan and I thought a genuine-style kimono was in order. The pattern is from Folkwear. They specialize in authentic-to-the-period patterns from all over the world. One thing I have been noticing lately is that my pictures are not always totally in focus. In fact, some of them are downright fuzzy. I've been using my iphone to take pictures for years and the quality of my pictures has really gone downhill. I'm charging a camera we had when the kids were younger... I'm hoping that that will solve the situation. You see, I am well aware how annoying a fuzzy picture is: I got my BFA in Photography for goodness sake! I think I might be looking into a nice camera for my birthday and Christmas this year. The iphone is just so easy to use though... click a picture, edit it and upload it to facebook all in 3 minutes.
We took the kids to see 'Finding Vivian Maier' this weekend at the Bryn Mawr movie theater. It is a documentary about a treasure trove of negatives one man bought at an auction that turned out to all be by Vivian Maier who as well as being an avid photographer was also a nanny. Her work was never shown when she was alive, heck, most of her work wasn't even printed until 2009. It made me miss taking pictures and finally pushed me over the edge to not accepting the quality of my iphone to be my legacy in photos. Jack really enjoyed the film. Kitty fell asleep.
