There's nothing that makes a parent prouder than watching their child engage and guide other children in an activity they dreamed up. Jack is writing a book in class called , 'Man and Elf.' He has one person transcribing his ideas and notes in to a word processing program as he comes up with them. Two other kids are doing illustrations for the book. I was in Jack's class last week doing an art project and one girl told me very excitedly about doing drawings for Jack's book. Jack has also strarted a group called J.A.M. which stands for Jack's Awesome Military. It is designed to patrol the playground looking for and stopping bullies. Jack has training classes at recess (that he designs and leads.) The other day he said that he told everyone about the recess training and only (!!!) 6 girls showed up. I find that to be most impressive. Yesterday Kitty had running club and Jack and some of his friends were playing on the playground while I sat under a tree and read 'Bossypants' by Tina Fey. I looked up and Jack was leading his friends plus a girl from his class over to the far side of the playground. Jack did some animated talking (which I couldn't hear) and then ran back. He stopped, turned around and yell, "Now Troops!" or something to that effect and the kids started running full tilt towards Jack. The rest of the time we were there whenever I looked up Jack was running around with people following him.
